Next weekend.

Got a busy weekend ahead, just trying to catch up with work over the next few days to clear some time for the Shetland Classic Show. Hope to post some videos / pics from training day entrants before I go, plus some feedback from the riders - so if you said you'd write something, come on, chop chop, send it in!!

Thanks Mike and UN, got yours and will post it as soon as I can.

So in between going to work and finishing building the lamb shelter so that the little cuties can live outside instead of being taken in at night, and various other jobs like painting my nails (chipped one today), I need to look out the following....

Tent GOT
Tent Poles etc Mrs BC found them!
Sleeping Bag GOT
Pillow GOT one but not the one I want
Blanket GOT
Foam Mat Thing GOT
Torch GOT
Thermals
Hot Water Bottle was only joking really

Plus....
Check Cubbie's chain - DONE
Check oil -TOPPED UP
Check tyre pressures (I'm really bad for not doing that) not done but look ok
OIL CLUTCH CABLE AGAIN - DONE

Er, what else?

Don't fret, I think I've got most things I need now. But I haven't quite done the bike prep work. Or my Area Rep Report for the next VMCC Committee Meeting on 11th June so I'd better get cracking!

I'M REEEEAAAAADDDDDY!!!!!

Yep, Cubbie is all checked and packed, and I'm using panniers for the first time to save the aches and pains on my shoulders. Just got to grab things like camera and rucksack at the last min. Now we're off out to worm the sheep and then lunch and then I'm awa'.

From complete chaos to....

in a matter of hours!

Camping list:
Don't take - pillow (fold up your jacket), blanket (you complained your sleeping bag was too warm), likewise, thermals and hot water bottle (that was a joke, I trust). Cubbie (take Skorpy instead).
Take - Chocolate (as if you wouldn't), makeup and nice dress (you might meet a nice chap), sense of humour (goes without saying).

Have a great time, and I hope the weather's good. Don't forget to take lots of photos.
I'll be going to the show at Fenwick, so will sent some pictures of that.

I always take a nice dress and makeup but I've never met a nice chap even with my sparkling quick wit and repartee.

"Don't take - ... Cubbie (take Skorpy instead)"

UN, the only reason we're forgiving GBC for not coming to the Ayr Classic Show at Fenwick this year is because she's taking Cubbie for a weekend away! No other excuse would have been acceptable. ;-)

"Tent Poles" was that a wee dig GBC?... yes I had to buy a new tent last week as I lost the poles for the old tent.
Mind the photo ID for getting on the boat.
UN we talking about the same lass "makeup and nice dress", if she wares a dressI'll ride round Shetland wearing a Kilt...

Ha ha, some good suggestions, I think. I've got a sore enough neck as it is so the pillow is a must, and as for being too warm, I figure that must have been in a summer (?) and this is still bloomin' winter!

Enjoy the Fenwick bash, give my apologies once again to the organisers. Wish I could be in two places at once - although I'm the only person who does wish that I bet!

Yo Jon, perhaps you're going for the wrong shade of makeup?

Do you have a kilt Kawa? Don't worry, you won't need it.

Jon never meets nice chaps because his dresses are always a bit short and tarty (though he does have the legs for it) ;-)

If Kawa is going to be wearing a kilt PLEASE show piccies on the blog.

As the boat to Shetland is overnight, why not take a pillow from your cabin? You can leave it in your cabin on the return trip, so you're not really 'stealing' it, merely 'borrowing'.
I've worn a kilt at a rally, but I have the excuse that it was in Germany. (Photos do exist!)
As you're going in summer, don't forget your bikini for trips to the beach.

Kilts are always appropriate!

I bought a self inflating pillow from Tesco Home for only 2 or 3 quid, hardly takes up any room at all when packing. Wrap a fleece around it for more comfort.

I've got one of those pillows too! Currently suffering from extreme pain in neck and shoulders though so don't know if I'll go for that one or the real pillow. It takes up more room but is probably more comfy.

Kwak, I think the National in Aug was the last camping trip for me.

The only place I haven't looked yet is in the van....

How much are new poles?

Oh, talking of chocs, still got some rather nice Green & Blacks here, yum yum.

new poles, problem would be finding a supplier, just as cheap buying a new tent, the last one I bought was £40 2 weeks ago.

Bet the choc will be finished by the time I get there :-(

Anon 8--Strange or not I'm a still going. I'm not missing the Haggis Run for the world.

You tell 'em CB!

Panniers are definitely a Good Idea.

Er.....have you left room to sit on Cubbie?

Have fun!

Somehow I'm jealous. Cubbie is so small compared to my bike yet manages to actually carry more useful stuff. I never think to bring a pillow.
And I always forget a dress.

U N said...

You forget your dress, Darrell? Obviously not a Scotsman! In The Simpsons, Groundskeeper Willie explains: 'Now, the kilt was only for day-to-day wear. In battle, we donned a full-length ball gown covered in sequins. The idea was to blind your opponent with luxury.'

Darrell, I never used to take a pillow, always rolled my waterproofs up, but then using wet waterproofs as a pillow ain't comfy. Started cramming a full sized pillow on the back of the bike, but then got one of those, ahem, blow up things. It's acually very good, although needs a cover on it cos the bit you don't use gets very cold and when you roll over and touch it, it surely wakes you up!
