A question for you. And catching up (again).

Now there's an interesting question.

What three bikes would you have if you could have ANY three in the entire world (not including any that you already own)?

This was posed to me by Kawa, and I'm still thinking about it. Leave a comment and let me know what your choices would be. Mine so far are...

1. Ducati 999
2. ??
3. ??

Apart from pondering questions such as this, this weekend has been busy so far - sheep catching, foot trimming, worming and moving them around to different fields. Preparing an area for Shed MkII and building the floor (tongue and groove planks), doing a bit of strimming (after my many weekends away lately, the place looks like a jungle) and so much more to do. Also haven't got round to telling you about the horse, or a couple of small local shows that I went to.

The horse thing happened at the end of July and coincided with Mrs BC's birthday - I had in fact, got a nice little surprise trip planned for her, but then we ended up hiring a horsebox and travelling down to Jedburgh to collect Horse, who had been brought from Yorkshire for us. She's an Exmoor pony called Crumble and a very fine girl she is too, if only she would stop ripping her special fly rug to pieces and stop removing her head collar.

Did I tell you about our local show at Oldmeldrum? Well here are some pics of normally very sensible people playing silly games on motorcycles.

Then there was the trip to the Black Isle show, totally un-bike relate but happened to bump into Colin and Mary, she rides a Tiger Cub ya know. And I can't remember whether Kawa's visit to assist with garage door making happened before or after any of the above, such a whirlwind it has been the last few weeks.
From one 'up and over' door....to a pair of will-be-hinged-one-day-double doors.

Complete with ramp.

My three bike:

1. Ducati 999 (or similar)
2. Honda CL350 or CB77
3. Morini Kanguro 350

Reasons:
1. Ducati 999, or MV F4, or similar. Would just like to own a 'cutting edge' sports bike to see just how good they are.
2. Honda CL 350. This is basically the CB350 K series we got in the late 60s/early 70s, except in 'street scrambler' guise. Always thought they looked cool, and I was outbid on Ebay for one a couple of months ago and haven't seen one since. Popular in the US, but never sold here.Alternatively, a Honda CB77 305cc. First biggish Jap bike and must have been a huge leap forwards when it came out. Also, Elvis rode one in 'Roustabout'.
3. Morini Kanguro 350 trail bike. I've never owned an Italian bike, nor a trail bike, so that would be killing two birds with one stone. Also, about 18 years ago I had to go to Manchester University for a week on a course, and on the way there the gear lever fell off of my MZ 250. I tried to get there using only 3rd gear but the clutch gave up and came off the taper on the crankshaft (a common fault). I had to abandon the bike and continue the journey by train. I arranged to get the bike recovered home the following weekend, but that week saw the Morini in a bikeshop at only £1200 new. I seriously thought about buying the Morini with my credit card, riding back to the MZ, throwing it into a skip, and riding home.
I didn't, and have always hankered after one since. (Very rare though).

GBC's got a horse? it's not 'Grampian the Wonder Horse', is it? You'll have to be a 'certain age' to get that one.

Now, about your top 3 bikes...c'mon, don't be shy....

First off would have to be a Rob North framed Rocket Three, I remember seeing a, sort of, road legal one in Bike magazine that they were testing and thought thats the bike for me,they look just right, so maybe one day

Next would be a 1990ish Ducati 750/900SS, just for looks alone, alot nicer and more usuable than the 916 etc, well thats what I think :-). I know where there is a nice 750SS.......

Something a wee bit more modern for the last one, a Kawasaki ZRX1100, just for the fact that it dose everything pretty well and the bike fits me like a glove, so to speak

UN you should get yourself a Morini one day, I had a 31/2 Strada a while back, while not fast it made up for it in the handeling. Also got, for a wee while, a 250 Morini and to be honest other than being slightly smaller it dose everthing the bigger one could. North Leicester Motorcycles usually have a good stock of Morinis

kawa or will it change to MuZ ?

My choice would be
1 1940s Indian Scout For posing
2 A new Pan European For touring
3 Any vetern flat tanker Cos I am sad and old.

The Indian takes me back to my youth I just love the sound and sight of that big red beast.
The new pan is lighter than the older ones and I may be able to handle one without dropping it. but I just like the thought of going out and not getting soaked when it rains.
The flat tanker must be an age thing, but with all the oil pumps and levers I just think they would be fun to ride.
Good question Kawa
but I now ask myself then why do I have an AJS, Velocette. Fanny B, Suzuki and a Triumph

Shorty if your bike collection is anything like mine, there are only a few that I can say that I went out and bought because thats what I wanted, the rest seem to have found me one way or another.

Cars are quite good for going out and not getting wet in the rain Shorty.

Ok, 3 bikes to have:
1) Vincent Series C Rapide.
2) BMW GS1200
3) My 2005 FLHT.

Reasons are simple enough, I like these bikes. And the Vincent just looks so...cooooooollllllll...

Oh, and nice horse Mrs. BC.

Meteorological question: what was the temp during the Plus 1?
Everyone seems to be wearing thick jackets.

Gorgeous Biker Chick said...

Come on then! I can't get past my first choice of bike, but I'm sure you lot can. Darrell...don't know what the exact temp was, probably about 15degrees C, and by the coast I suspect it was a tad cooler. The main thing was, the rain stayed away! (Mostly). To be honest, I've been wearing my 'winter' biking clothes all year (obvioulys only when I've been biking...) as it just hasn't been warm enough for summer gloves and a light jacket.

kawa said...

How about we guess your other two bikes?
I'll go for a Triumph T120 (late 60s) and a Suzuki Bandit 1200.

Quite a look of concentration on "The Gorgeous One's" face as she was being given directions. So, just out of curiosity, how well did she follow those directions?

I thought your choices of bike would be:

1. Cubby
2. Another Cubby
3. A life size model of Cubby made of chocolate.

Hmm, getting close Kwak, I would probably go for a T100 because it's bigger than a Cub and therefore a more practical old Triumph for riding longer distances and I can start the 500 no bother (but no one said I'd have to get rid of Cubbie to have my 3 chosen bikes, so that's ok, I'd keep both) and the Duke 999 I like simply because it's the cor blimey best looking modern bike on the planet or on any other planet come to that, and yes, I quite like the look of the Bandit, but it wouldn't be a bike that I'd chop off my ear for though. I could go for something like a Vincent, but only 'cos they cost heaps and are good for posing on, but I wouldn't be able to start it, but I think, actually, I'm heading somewhere towards something really old. Like really, really old. Something tatty, oily, rusty but in sound running order, something that is about 80 or 90 years old, and a true marvel of engineering, but I can't think what.

"Something tatty, oily, rusty but in sound running order", but you already have a Cub GBC

Okay list 2...( one's not enough)

1. TZ 700/750
2. TZ 250 W
3. Hon CR 500

3 more bikes I should've kept

1.83 RZ 350 (YPVS) race prepped
2.84 RZ 350 KR yellow w/Toomey pipes
3.84 RZ 350 stock w/US pollution controls

My three bikes, guess I'm lucky, I already have mine.

2006 K6 Gixxer 750 Track ready and properly sorted / set up as a dry bike on slicks.

1994 RVF 400RR NC35 Track ready and properly sorted / set up wet bike on wets.

2003 Yamaha XJR 1300 SP road bike for 2 up puttering around on.

1956 Matchless G3 350 Single. Unrestored and in fair original condition with the glass battery.

I know that that is 4 but I bought the Matchless for my father in Abu Dhabi in 1986 and we sort of both own it.

If I didn't own any bikes these are the ones I would want, though I might swap the Matchless for an orange, pristine, Honda CB 750 K1 or K2
